The 6 kW heater reaches 180-200°F in 45-60 minutes. It runs dry (traditional Finnish style) or wet (pour water on the rocks for steam). The heat quality is identical to the Pinnacle because the heater is the same unit. The smaller interior volume of the Salem (6x4 vs 6x6) actually means it heats faster. Less air to warm.

For someone coming from infrared blankets or infrared cabins, the difference is stark. Infrared operates at 130-150°F with direct tissue heating. The Salem hits 190°F+ with ambient heat that envelops your entire body, head included. It is the experience people picture when they say "sauna."

6x4 feet. Two opposing benches. Two adults fit. If both are over 6 feet or over 200 lbs, it is snug. Your knees will be close. Shoulders may overlap the bench edge.

For solo sessions, the Salem is actually better than the Pinnacle. Less air volume means faster heat-up and less energy waste. You sit in the middle, lean against the curved wall (get a backrest, $112), and have the whole barrel to yourself.

For regular couples use or any social scenario, spend the extra $945 on the Pinnacle ($5,715). The 6x6 footprint transforms the experience from "we fit" to "this is comfortable." If there is any chance you will want more room, buy the Pinnacle and never think about it again.

The sauna ships in crates, roughly 300-400 lbs total. Curbside delivery on a pallet. You move it from there. Assembly takes 2-3 people and 4-6 hours. A cordless drill and the included hardware.

Fir, not cedar. The standard Salem uses rustic fir. It looks great when new and smells wonderful when heated. In wet climates (Pacific Northwest, Southeast, Gulf Coast), fir needs annual sealing and more attention than cedar. In dry climates (Mountain West, Southwest), fir performs fine with basic maintenance. Cedar upgrade is available at a premium.

No porch. You exit directly into your yard. No covered cool-down spot at the door. If this matters to you, the Dundalk Serenity ($5,724 + heater) has a built-in porch. Or add outdoor furniture near the door.

2-person maximum. This is a firm limit, not a suggestion. The barrel is 4 feet deep. Two benches, two seats. For any social use beyond a single guest, you need the Pinnacle.
